Bank Strike. UFBU, Bank Staff to go on Strike on December 19, 2013
Employee unions in public sector banks has decided to call for one day Bank Employees Strike on December 19, 2013 to push early wage revision and to protest against Banking Sector Reforms. The decision was taken by United Forum of Bank Unions’ (U.F.B.U) leaders in a meeting held on November 20, 2013 in Chennai.
Bank Employees are very dejected as they have their Salary Revision due since November 2012 and things are moving at a very slow pace. The dejection is even more since the announcement of the seventh pay commission has already come before the expiry of the present pay commission.
As per the information, National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) and National Organisation of Bank Officers (NOBO) suggested for 2-3 days Bank strike. But majority of member unions opposed it and voiced for One days bank strike. Therefore for the unity, U.F.B.U have agreed for one days strike.
The leaders also decided if Government don’t come out with hikes in future UFBU may go on 2-3 days strike action.
