State Bank of India (SBI) to open additional 1000 branches in next financial year.
State Bank of India, countries largest banking and financial services company to open an additional 1000 branches in the 2013-14 financial year. On February 9, Union Finance Minister Shri P. Chidambaram visited the Corporate Centre of State Bank of India and inaugurated online 101 branches of the Bank, spread over 21 States of India, which increased the number of branches of the Bank to 14598 branches.
The Chairman of State Bank of India Mr. Pratip Choudhuri in a function at Chennai said the banking industry looks ‘promising’ for the 2013-14 period. “We are pretty hopeful to open an additional 1000 branches in the next (financial) year,” he added.
With the plan to include another 1000 branches, the State Bank of India will become the first bank in India to achieve the 15,000 branch network strength.
