Addu Declaration adopted in the 17th SAARC Summit

The 17th SAARC Summit (heads of states) was held on 10 November and 11 November 2011 in Hithadhoo, Addu in Maldives. A 20-point Addu Declaration was adopted on 11 November 2011, on the final day of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation’s head of states summit, to forge effective cooperation among the member countries in a host of areas including economy, connectivity, climate change and food security.

The 17th SAARC Summit recognized the importance of bridging differences, creating better understanding and promoting amity and mutually beneficial and comprehensive cooperation in order to promote effective linkages and connectivity for greater movement of people, enhanced investment and trade in the SAARC members region. The theme of the 17th SAARC Summit was ‘Building Bridges’ among the member states.
