Anandiben Patel was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on May 22, 2014. After Narendra Modi resigned as the chief minister of Gujrat to take charge as Prime Minister of India. She became the first woman chief minister of Gujrat.
72-year old Anandiben was administered oath to the office and secrecy by Kamla Beniwal, Governor of Gujrat at a ceremony at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
She is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 1987 and she held several key portfolio under Narendra Modi’s government.
