Major Cabinet Reshuffle in Central Government – Seven New Cabinet Minister Sworn in with other MOS.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has reshuffled his Cabinet in a bid to overhaul his government’s image ahead of General Elections in 2014.

Five new cabinet ministers and four junior ministers took the oath of office at a brief ceremony to mark the changes aimed at bringing in younger faces into the Cabinet.

New Cabinet Ministers:

  • Mallikarjun Kharge: New Railway Minsiter
  • Mr. Oscar Fernandes – Road and Highways Minister
  • Ms. Girija Vyas – New Housing, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister.
  • Mr. K.S. Rao – New Textiles Minister
  • Mr. SiS Ram Ola – New Labour and Employment Minister.

Ministers of state:

  • EMS Natchiyappan takes oath as MoS commerce and industry
  • J D Seelam becomes MoS finance
  • Manikrao Gavit gets social justice and empowerment
  • Santosh Chowdhury gets health & family welfare
