European Union (EU) win Nobel Peace Prize 2012

The Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2012 to the European Union (EU) for its efforts to promote peace and democracy in Europe – an award given even though the bloc is struggling with its biggest crisis since it was created in the 1950s.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2012 was awarded to European Union (EU) “for over six decades contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe”.

The Norwegian prize committee said the EU was being honored for six decades of contributions “to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.”
