Global Peace Index 2014 released by Institute for Economics and Peace

Global Peace Index (GPI)GPI-Global Peace Index 2014 was published by Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) on 18 June 2014 in London.

Global Peace Index (GPI) is an attempt to measure the relative position of nations’ and regions’ peacefulness.

The GPI 2014 measured peace for 162 countries on the basis of 22 indicators. Among these 162 countries, India has been ranked 143rd. In GPI 2013, India was ranked 141st.

The Index is composed of 22 indicators, ranging from a nation’s level of military expenditure to its relations with neighbouring countries and the percentage of prison population in 162 countries.
