Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won IPL 2014 title, defeated Kings XI Punjab by three wickets in the final.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Kolkata based franchise of Indian Premier League (IPL), on June 1, 2014 won the seventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 by defeating the Punjab franchise – Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by three wickets in the final played at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
This is the second title win for the Kolkata Knight Riders after their maiden title win back in 2012 when they defeated Chennai Super Kings.
Batting first Kings XI Punjab put a mammoth score of 199 to be chased by KKR. Wriddhiman Saha of KXIP scored century in just 49 balls. Batting second as chasers, KKR’s Manish Pandey fuelled a match-winning 94 off 50 balls.
With this win Kolkata Knight Riders has now joined Chennai Super Kings as a team that has claimed two IPL trophies.
