The Governor acts as the nominal head whereas the real power lies in the hand of the Chief Ministers of the states and the Chief Minister’s Council of Ministers.

- Devanand Konwar – Appointed as the Governor of Tripura on March 9, 2013 (Replaced D Y Patil).
- D. Y. Patil- Appointed as the Governor of Bihar on March 9, 2013 (Replaced Devanand Konwar).
- S. C. Jamir - Appointed as the Governor of Odisha on March 9, 2013 (Replaced M C Bhandare).
- Nikhil Kumar – Appointed as the Governor of Kerala on Appointed as the Governor of (Replaced Karnataka Governor H R Bhardawaj who had the additional charge of Kerala).
- Ashwani Kumar – Appointed as the Governor of Nagaland on March 9, 2013 (Replaced Nikhil Kumar).
In the year 2012, the list of Newly Appointed governors are:
- Aziz Qureshi - Appointed as the Governor of Uttarakhand on 15 May 2012 replaced Margaret Alva.
- Margaret Alva – Appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan on 12 May 2012 replaced Shivraj Patil.
- Bharat Vir Wanchoo – appointed as governor of Goa. Took office on 4 may 2012.
Term Extended (in 2012):
- Governor of Andhra Pradesh – E S L Narasimhan (re-elected)
- Governor of Maharashtra – K. Sankaranarayanan (re-elected)
