oscar-awardsThe 85th Academy Awards (Oscar 2013) ceremony, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), honored the best films of 2012 from all over the world. It will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Barfi! was India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film nomination for this years Oscars but it dropped out of the race in the first round, and was criticized for copying several scenes from English films.

  • Best Writing – Original Screenplay: Django Unchained – Quentin Tarantino
  • Best Writing – Adapted Screenplay: Argo – Chris Terrio from The Master of Disguise by Antonio J. Mendez & The Great Escape by Joshuah Bearman
  • Best Animated Feature: “Brave”
  • Best Foreign Language Film: “Amour,” Austria –
  • Best Documentary – Feature: Searching for Sugar Man – Malik Bendjelloul and Simon Chinn
  • Best Documentary – Short Subject: Inocente – Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine
  • Best Live Action Short Film: Curfew – Shawn Christensen
  • Best Animated Short Film: Paperman – John Kahrs
