What is Marketing? What is the definition of Marketing? When you are studying marketing for the first time these are the few basic questions may arise in you.

What WikiPedia says on Marketing? Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.

American Marketing Association – “Marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion and distribution of ideas, goods and services to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives”.

Philip Kotler defines marketing as “Satisfying needs and wants through an exchange process”.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing defines marketing as “The management process responsible for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements profitably”.

Palmer – “Marketing is essentially about marshaling the resources of an organization so that they meet the changing needs of the customer on whom the organization depends”.

Bartles – “Marketing is the process whereby society, to supply its consumption needs, evolves distributive systems composed of participants, who, interacting under constraints—technical (economic) and ethical (social)—create the transactions or flows which resolve market separations and result in exchange and consumption”.
